Papež František je čestným rotariánem RC v Buenos Aires.
Argentinec Luis Vicente Giay nám přímo z Evansonu, domova mezinárodního prezídia rotariánů v letech 1996/97 sděluje, že papež František je od roku 1999 čestným rotariánem Rotary klubu v Buenos Aires. Tato zpráva je pro nás velkou ctí a opět demonstruje, jak Rotary International uznává a respektuje všechny naboženství, jejich následovníky i vůdce, tak důstojnýcha a užitečných pro společnost, jako jsou vůdci a následovníci římskokatolického náboženství.
Je vskutku chybou říkat, že Rotary je světskou organizací. Ne, Rotary nění světská, naše organizace přece vítá, respektuje a uznává všechny nabéženství, které věří v existenci Boha, našeho vyššícho já, které všechno řídí.
Náš zakladatel Paul P. Harris objasňuje své osobní stanovisko a prostřednictvím citátů a myšlenek vysvětluje, že monoteista je "člověk, který věří a následuje jediného Boha".
Rotary International jasá a plesá, že má ve svých řadách takového mimořádného člena, jakým je kormidelník Petrovy loďky, jeho svatost papež František.

The news of great honor for us and demonstrates once again how Rotary International recognizes and respects all faiths, his followers and leaders, as having dignified and useful to society, as well as the leaders and followers of the Roman Catholic religion.
Indeed, it is a mistake to say that Rotary is a secular organization. No, Rotary is not secular, our organization simply welcomes, respects and recognizes all faiths, believing in the existence of God, our higher self, that governs everything.
